The Perdomo Estate Selección Vintage (aka Perdomo ESV) is an elite brand by way of the world-renowned Perdomo family of premium cigar artisans. Estate Selección Vintage dates back to 2005, when Perdomo Cigars launched the brand in commemoration of the late Nick Perdomo Sr., who had passed away the year prior. Using select tobaccos from a 1991 harvest, the cigars were branded as Perdomo ESV 1991. The ESV name was then retired until 2016, being revived in limited quantities and featuring different tobaccos and and an overhauled appearance. But cigar fanatics didn't have to wait another decade before the next launch, with Perdomo launching the third iteration of the ESV in 2019, now officially dubbed Perdomo Estate Selección Vintage Limited Edition Box-Pressed.
Like nearly all Perdomo cigars, the ESV arrives in three variants: Connecticut, Sun Grown, and Maduro. Each version includes the same high-grade core recipe, featuring leaves harvested from the family's prized Finca Natalie Farm in Estelí, Nicaragua (named after Nick Perdomo, Jr.’s daughter). Only the top five percent of these leaves make it into the final product, classifying the cigars as among the finest smoking experiences in Perdomo's acclaimed portfolio. As a finishing touch, the ESV lineup has been box pressed for the first time, allowing the leaves to better marry, as well as bringing a cooler smoking temperature (and thus a more conducive climate for flavors to flourish) onto the palate.
Each wrapper variety brings a unique experience, with the Connecticut being the most mild and the Sun Grown and Maduro each ranking in the medium-to-full-bodied range.
