The West Tampa Tobacco White cigar is the lighter of two inaugural blends from 2022 newcomer West Tampa Tobacco Company. West Tampa is the pet project of industry veteran Rick Rodriguez (of CAO Cigars fame), being joined by his daughter Sara and former colleague Gus Martinez.
With the company's first two releases, they essentially blended two versions of the same cigar, targeting the American market with the West Tampa Tobacco Black cigar and the rest of the world with the West Tampa Tobacco White cigar (though these are simply generalities). In other words, the White is a milder, more nuanced take on a Habano profile, while the Black is more upfront on the palate.
What does the West Tampa Tobacco White cigar taste like?
The West Tampa Tobacco White cigar begins with a medium-brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper; this leaf surrounds an Ecuadorian Habano binder and fillers of Nicaragua's Ometepe, Jalapa, and Pueblo Nuevo regions. The end result is a medium-bodied experience that's zesty, aromatic, and well balanced. Expect flavors of toasted cedar, nutmeg, sweet earth, and mixed nuts.
