Undercrown Shade follows in the footsteps of the original, maduro-wrapped Undercrown cigar, offering smokers an amped-up take on the traditional Connecticut smoking experience. In the spirit of the Undercrown, the Shade was created by Drew Estate's factory workers themselves, creating a Connecticut-wrapped blend that they could smoke on a daily basis.
Drew Estate's factory team worked closely with the company's Master Blender, Willy Herrera, selecting a blend of tobaccos that would be bright and lively on the palate, yet retaining the smooth and creamy texture that Connecticuts are famous for. This includes a solid core of Dominican Criollo '98 and Nicaraguan Criollo and Corojo tobaccos at the cigar's core. These leaves are bound in a Sumatran leaf and finished with an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper. The results are all too evident, covering the palate with a silky blanket of smoke from the get-go, including standout flavors of buttered nuts, white pepper, light-roast coffee, cedar, and layers upon layers of heavy cream.
