Sobremesa is the freshman release from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, a family-owned operation with industry veteran Steve Saka at the helm. When Saka retired from his role as CEO of Drew Estate in 2013, cigar enthusiasts anxiously awaited his return—this was finally realized in 2015 with Dunbarton Tobacco and the sought-after Sobremesa cigar.
The term “sobremesa” is Spanish lingo describing the time spent relaxing between eating and rising—it’s the moments after dinner when cigars can be lit and discussion had (i.e. the best time of the night!). For this blend, Steve deviated from his known style of dark and gritty wrappers and smoking profiles, instead focusing on finesse. The blend showcases an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper (La Meca Grade 1 Dark Rosado), a unique Matacapan binder, and a mixture of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania Broadleaf tobaccos in the filler.
Sobremesa is intended to showcase Saka’s talents as a master blender; and he has teamed with the legendary Joya de Nicaragua factory for production. The end result is a sophisticated and flavor-forward smoking experience, delivering a healthy dose of wheat, cinnamon, chocolate, prune fruit, sweet malt, and vanilla creaminess on the finish.
