A new addition to Savinelli's line of premium pipes, honoring the archetype of the Renaissance Man, Leonardo da Vinci; This beautiful and unique tobacco pipe is a hybrid of a Dublin bowl and diamond shank.
Since 2007, Savinelli has designed this da Vinci-inspired life of pipes, all inspired by drawings made by the Italian genius. Each pipe was produced in limited numbers, with the reproduction of the sketch in silver, applied to the shank.
This particular pipe was inspired by the design of a new musical instrument called a ‘Clavi Viola’ which translates to mean ‘keyboard violin’. It was a combination of a harpsichord and a violin, conceived by da Vinci, and documented in a sketch. The briar is finished in a rich brown, and the shank expansion of this refined bent Billiard reflects the form of the Clavi Viola itself, and fittingly enough, a sterling silver relief of the inspiring sketch is mounted on the shank.
The length is 15.1 cm (5.94″), and the bowl's height is 4.9 cm (1.93″). The external dimensions of the bowl are 4.8 x 4.1 cm (1.89 x 1.61″), the internal diameter is 2.0 cm (0.79″), and the depth is 3.7 cm (1.46″). The stem is acrylic, and it takes a 6 mm filter.
