The San’Doro collection from Villiger Cigars was introduced in 2015 and consists of three blends: San’Doro Maduro, Claro, and Colorado. The inspiration behind the project dates back to the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus and the subsequent fascination with tobacco from the Old World. The leaf was thought to be sacred, which East Indians referred to as "San’Doro," translating to "Holy plant from India."
The San’Doro Colorado is a medium to medium-plus cigar that sits between the other two cigars in the collection (Maduro and Claro). Made at the famed Tabacalera Oliva S.A. factory in Estelí (best known for Oliva cigars such as Oliva Serie V and Oliva Serie G), San’Doro Colorado features a brilliant Ecuadorian Habano (Colorado shade) wrapper and all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers.
This is an easily enjoyable blend that offers a traditional smoking experience, known for delivering highlights of roasted nuts, red pepper, earth, and exotic cabinet spices.
In 2016, Cigar Aficionado awarded the Robusto-sized San’Doro Colorado an impressive 92 points, ranking the cigar as No. 21 on their annual Top 25 Cigars of the Year list.
