San Pedro de Macorís is an affordable collection of premium, hand-made cigars, offered as a sub-brand within the larger range of smoking experiences from parent company, Royal Agio Cigars. While Royal Agio is primarily known for its machine-made cigarillos—produced in the Duizel village within the Netherlands and primarily distributed throughout Europe—the company's premium, hand-rolled cigars are made at their Agio Caribbean Tobacco Factory in the Dominican Republic.
It is at this factory that the San Pedro de Macorís was born. The cigars are named for the Dominican town of the same name, selected in homage to the location of the Agio Caribbean Tobacco Factory. The cigars were conceived from the desire to introduce a clean and attractive smoking experience, offering high-grade tobaccos at surprisingly low price points.
After years of development, the proper balance was achieved, offering a wide range of smoking profiles for the flavor-seeking enthusiast. These cigars showcase diverse wrapper ingredients, ranging from Ecuador (Connecticut), to Brazil (Araparica), to Nicaragua (Habano) and beyond. Each blend differs to best compliment the various wrapper choices, though the blends tend to center around Dominican tobaccos, including a special high-priming Piloto Cubano ligero leaf that lends power and complexity.
Despite being priced in the $5 range, San Pedro de Macorís is capable of competing with other premiums twice that cost!
