Despite the title, Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 actually debuted in the mid-2000s, joining the increasingly popular RP Vintage 1990 and RP Vintage 1992 cigars to create an unstoppable collection from Rocky Patel Premium Cigars.
The RP Vintage 1999 actually receives its name from the highly aged Connecticut Shade leaf showcased as the cigar's wrapper ingredient. First harvested in 1999, this golden-hued leaf is among the most aged Connecticut wrappers found throughout the premium cigar market, topping out at seven years before making it to the end user. This leaf is joined by an equally seasoned interior, including a seven-year-aged Nicaraguan binder and seven-year-aged fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Like all fine indulgences, tobacco softens in intensity as it ages, often taking on deeper complexities in the process. This plays well with the mild-natured character of the Rocky Patel Vintage 1999, being a study case of refinement and finesse, including standout characteristics of buttered toast, clean cedar, vanilla bean, buttery chardonnay, and sweet raw honey.
