First there was the Alma Fuerte cigar, debuting in 2016 and marking the start of a new era for the Plasencia family and their overhauled Plasencia Cigars brand. Hailed by cigar enthusiasts as a stunning success, the cigars were followed by other popular releases such as the Plasencia Alma del Campo and Plasencia Alma del Fuego.
But many would contend that the original—Alma Fuerte—remained the favorite, and the Plasencias responded in 2020 with the hexagonally-shaped Alma Fuerte Sixto I Hexagon Colorado Claro, a similar recipe to the darker-wrapped Alma Fuerte that boasted a new 10-year-aged Colorado claro wrapper. This spinoff series now extends with the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro Eduardo I cigar, being named for Eduardo Plasencia, one of the first Plasencias to grow tobacco in Cuba after emigrating from the Canary Islands in 1865.
What does the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro Eduardo I cigar taste like?
Classic and ultra refined! The Plasencia Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro Eduardo I cigar boasts the same recipe as its hexagon-pressed sibling, including a 10-year-aged Nicaraguan Colorado claro wrapper from the Jalapa growing region. This exquisite leaf surrounds all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers, being rolled in a box-pressed 6¼" x 54 toro format. The result is a medium-bodied performance, offering deep complexity and long-lasting flavors of sweet earth, clean cedar, white pepper, creamy malt, and caramel through the finish.
Plasencia Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro Eduardo I Ranked at No. 5 for Cigar Journal’s Top 25 New Cigars of 2023.
