With the recent surge in both premium cigars and craft bourbon, it only makes sense that the two would be married for the ultimate craft experience! Tabacalera Perdomo is among those leading the charge of modern, barrel-aging twists on classic tobacco fermentation techniques, and the factory has now introduced a trio of bourbon barrel-aged blends: Perdomo Habano Bourbon Barrel Aged Maduro, Sun Grown, and Connecticut.
Of the three blends, Perdomo Habano Bourbon Barrel Aged Maduro has been aged the longest (which makes sense, considering the term “maduro” means “mature” in tobacco fermentation terms). The process begins long before tobacco enters the bourbon barrels, as Perdomo has aged the cigar's Nicaraguan fillers for 4 - 6 years and a Nicaraguan Maduro wraper for 6 years. After all this time, the wrapper tobaccos are further aged in freshly dumped bourbon barrels for an additional 14 months—making for a heavenly concoction no craft fanatic should be without!
Perdomo Habano Bourbon Barrel Aged Maduro displays a medium-plus body and dessert-like characteristics of sweet chocolate, espresso, dark cherries, and a satisfying, boozy kick in the nostrils, as well as sweet floral and honey aromas that cling to the ceiling—making for a memorable experience that hits the senses on all fronts!
