Indeed, Onyx Reserve is draped in a deep black Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that far exceeds the maduro classification, perhaps being even a few shades darker than oscuro! Underneath, Onyx utilizes a Nicaraguan binder and long-leaf fillers of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian tobaccos. The resulting experience is medium to medium-plus in body, displaying rich notes of dark coffee, chocolate, toasted nuts, and a hint of black licorice. 

Onyx Reserve is best known for its shockingly low price point, offering deep, dark, and satisfying flavors in the $5 range. Not many cigars in this range can score a ranking in the 90s range, but Onyx tallied a whopping 94 points from Cigar Aficionado in 2001 — that’s what we call a well-spent fiver!
