With nearly 40 years experience in the cigar industry, José Seijas has made quite a name for himself. Seijas is best known for his work with cigar giant Altadis, where he managed world-famous brands such as H. Upmann, Montecristo, and Romeo y Julieta.
José retired from Altadis's Tabacalera de Garcia factory in 2012, and he did not wait long to begin his next venture. After establishing a small boutique factory in La Romana, Dominican Republic, José partnered with sons Enrique and Ricardo Seijas to introduce Matilde Cigars in 2013.
Matilde offers Seijas the chance to showcase his supreme cigar knowledge and blending expertise on a much smaller scale, allowing for greater creativity, attention to detail, and quality craftsmanship. Each year since debuting Matilde Cigars, the company has introduced a new blend—now encompassing a wide range of profiles for nearly every cigar enthusiast. And while the experiences range from mild to full, every cigar retains consistent quality, showing a smooth and enjoyable draw and rich complexities that have quickly elevated Matilde to one of the hottest craft cigar brands on the market.
