Tabaclera Palma is a staple in the Dominican cigar industry. Founded in 1936, they are one of the oldest factories in the Dominican Republic. With a well-established farming operation, and a factory that produces many of the most acclaimed Dominican cigars on the market, there was only one thing left for Jose "Jochy" Blanco (owner of the factory) to do—launch his own brand. In 2016, he did just that, debuting La Galera Cigars.
The first two lines for La Galera were the La Galera Connecticut and the La Galera Habano. Both of these cigars contained binders and fillers grown completely by farms owned by Jochy. This home-grown core recipe is then topped with a select, Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, showing a smooth flavor profile of barnyard hay, bright and citrusy coffee, buttered crackers, and rich earth.
