In 2016, La Flor Dominicana debuted a special smoking experience known as Andalusian Bull—a cigar that has since become (perhaps) LFD's most sought-after release, as well as (undoubtedly) their most highly awarded cigar to date. Specifically, this includes the prestigious honor of receiving the No. 1 Cigar of the Year award from Cigar Aficionado in 2016.
The story of the Andalusian Bull cigar dates back years prior, where company founder, Litto Gomez, had found an antique cigar shape while traveling through Spain. Working with his son Tony, the father-son duo recreated the shapely cigar size, naming it in honor of Spain's heritage of bullfighting (and the area where the animals are bred).
But the cigar's Salomon-like shape is not its defining feature, as the tobacco blend is what truly sets it apart from the pack. With the Andalusian Bull cigar, LFD has selected a rich-colored Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper from a tobacco priming never before used on an LFD cigar. This leaf surrounds all-Dominican binder/fillers from the company's own Dominican fields, including Criollo ’98 and a touch of Pelo d’Oro varietals.
The Consensus ranked La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull at #17 in their Top 25 Cigars 2021
What does the Andalusian Bull cigar taste like?
LFD's Andalusian Bull cigar has maintained its status as one of the most sought-after and acclaimed cigars in the premium cigar space. Crafted in small batches, the cigar stuns the palate with a dense smoking texture, medium-full body, and layered complexities of French-pressed coffee, oak, toasted chestnuts, caramel sweetness, and long-lasting brown sugar through the finish.
