La Barba Cigars was founded by Tony Bellatto and Craig Rossi in roughly the 2011 timeframe. While Bellatto had grown up in the cigar scene (being the son of a prominent tobacconist family), Rossi first found a love for premium cigars while in college. The two combined talents shortly thereafter, bonding over their common passions for cigars and wine culture.
Bringing their vision to life, La Barba Cigars was born. The name is Spanish for The Beard, showcasing gothic graphics and a straight-razor logo that conjured Sweeney Todd imagery. Until 2016, La Barba cigars focused on classic, Cuban-esque smoking experiences exclusively, producing their blends at Christian Eiroa's (of CLE Cigars fame) boutique Aladino factory in Honduras. The company then made significant changes, moving to the Dominican Republic to have the complete lineup crafted by Tabacalera William Ventura. This included a new distribution partnership with Robert Caldwell (of Caldwell Cigar Co. fame), tweaked cigar blends with the new factory, and a modernized look for La Barba's full portfolio.
La Barba's original collection includes the La Barba Red and La Barba Purple, blended to showcase flavor-forward experiences for the discerning palate. This original duo has since been followed by two unique blends under the Ricochet moniker, offering fuller-bodied experiences intended to mimic the dark and juicy characteristics of classic wine styles.
This is La Barba Cigars, a boutique-minded offering for lovers of craft culture and life-enriching indulgences.
