La Aurora 1987 Connecticut is themed around the history of the Dominican Republic's oldest cigar factory (La Aurora) and their usage of Connecticut Shade tobacco. Noted by the year in the cigar's title, the company has worked with the fan-favorite Connecticut seed for roughly 30 years (at the time of the cigar's launch in 2016).
To highlight the famously smooth characteristics of Connecticut Shade tobacco, La Aurora built a special blend around the leaf. La Aurora 1987 Connecticut features filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic; this is joined by a Dominican binder (grown in the DR's famed Cibao Valley) and a golden-hued Connecticut Shade wrapper. This produces a smooth and creamy smoking experience, offering a mild/medium body and soft flavors of buttered crackers, heavily creamed coffee, citrus, and sweet honey.
