My Father La Antiguedad follows in the footsteps of the company's smash hit, Flor de las Antillas, which earned the prestigious honor of Cigar Aficionado's No. 1 Cigar of the Year in 2012. La Antiguedad (translating to mean The Antiquity) first launched in 2014, offering a similar feel to the Flor de las Antillas brand by featuring authentic, vintage artwork front and center—in the case of La Antiguedad, the artwork dates back to the 1870s.
But what is artwork without premium tobacco? The famed García family no doubt understands this as well as any other, bringing forth select Nicaraguan leaves from their own farms throughout the country. Master Blenders Don Pepín and Jaime García set the stage for La Antiguedad with Nicaraguan fillers from their San Rafael, Las Quebradas, and San Jose farms. This blend is bound in a double binder, consisting of Nicaraguan Criollo and Corojo varietals. Finally, the blend is wrapped in a highly specific Ecuadorian Habano Rosado Oscuro cover leaf.
The end result is a medium-plus to medium-full-bodied experience, delivering supreme balance and an overall nostalgic flavor profile. Smokers are treated to nuanced and gripping characteristics of freshly ground coffee beans, black pepper, milk chocolate, cedar, classic leather, and a dark background sweetness of black cherry stone fruit.
