After years of being distributed exclusively to Nicaraguan ambassadors as diplomatic gifts on the global stage, Joya de Nicaragua unleashed the vaunted Número Uno cigar into the wild in 2019.
Número Uno joins Joya's most elite collection—Obras Maestras (or Masterpieces)—featuring fan-favorite cigars such as the Cuatro Cinco and Cinco Décadas. But the Número Uno differentiates itself, foregoing Joya's signature style of all-Nicaraguan tobaccos and full-strength smoking profiles, instead veering towards refinement and delicate complexity. This is accomplished through the use of a select Nicaraguan interior and a special Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper.
Additionally, Joya assigns only their most veteran torcedores of their historic factory in Estelí, crafting Número Uno in an elegant 6⅝” x 44 format known as “L’Ambassadeur,” which is topped with a beautiful fantail cap. The end result is a soft smoking texture on the palate, opening up through an extraordinarily long finish to reveal a level of complexity that rivals the world's most acclaimed cigars; this includes intricacies of brown sugar, kettle corn, browned butter, salted peanuts, nougat, and orange zest.
Joya de Nicaragua sends a message with Número Uno, that they're the king of Nicaraguan premium cigars for a reason.
