First there was the JFR series, then came the JFR Lunatic sub-series, and finally, the JFR Lunatic Torch sub-sub-series! What this amounts to is a fun and easily approachable smoking experience for those that demand high flavor value for their hard-earned buck.
The JFR Lunatic Torch originally launched in 2016 in a singular Churchill size, but the brand has recently been overhauled for a modern look and flavor experience. This includes the expansion to three sizes (two of which utilize wide ring gauges) and a revamped look that is sure to be among the most attractive in any given humidor. Lunatic Torch is named for its shagged foot, where the wrapper is cut roughly a half-inch short, both resembling a torch in appearance and allowing the smoker to experience the raw binder/filler combination before the wrapper kicks in.
The blend itself is Nicaraguan puro, featuring only tobaccos grown by the Fernández family on their many farms throughout the country. This includes a sweet yet rich Corojo ‘99 wrapper from Jalapa, a double binder, and fillers from the Jalapa and Estelí growing regions. Aganorsa's JFR Lunatic Torch is extremely flavorful from the moment flame hits leaf, opening up with a medium body and energetic flavors of cedar, citrus, buttered crackers, aromatic cabinet spices, and delectable campfire s'mores.
