Since launching in 2013, Fratello Cigars has become known for their Italian inspiration, quality craftsmanship throughout Nicaragua and the DR, and the tagline, "It's Not Rocket Science." The latter is due to company owner, Omar de Frias' background as a longtime employee of NASA. And while the space theme hadn't made a direct impact on the brand throughout its early years, this changed in 2017, launching the Fratello Navetta under the Spazio Series.
Breaking down the foreign translations: Fratello (Italian for Brother); Navetta (Italian for Shuttle); Spazio (Italian for Space). So there you have it—a shuttle in space for the brothers (and sisters) of the leaf!
Fratello Navetta was designed to convey the exhilarating feeling that the men and women of the space program experience upon completing a successful mission. This was accomplished through the artisan craftsmanship of the Joya de Nicaragua factory, showcasing a full-flavored smoking experience from start to finish. The cigar sports an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper, Dominican binder, and Nicaraguan fillers grown in the country's Jalapa region. Through a medium-plus body, Navetta launches onto the palate with lively flavors of sweet coffee, malted cereal, chocolate-covered raisins, black pepper, and licorice.
