To understand why cigar fanatics are going nuts for newcomer Ferio Tego, you need a quick refresher on the events leading up to their 2021 inception. We're going all the way back to 1930, when the world-famous Nat Sherman Townhouse opened in New York City. Fast forward to the great cigar boom of the '90s, and the tobacconist started making a name for itself as a legit brand, releasing the Metropolitan Selection.

In 2011, Michael Herklots came aboard as director of retail and brand development, rapidly evolving the Nat Sherman brand as a household name for cigar enthusiasts across the country. This began with the Timeless Collection, eventually expanding to include the Epoca, among many others. Sadly, the global pandemic caused Nat Sherman to close its doors in 2020, but Herklots was not content seeing the brands he'd labored over go down with the ship. Partnering with Brendon Scott (also formerly of Nat Sherman), the duo acquired all of Nat Sherman's premium cigar brands, maintaining the cigars' original branding and blend recipes under the Ferio Tego banner.

The company takes its unusual name and logo from Herklots' family motto and crest (dating back to 1641), where Hercules is depicted striking a Hydra on the family's coat of arms. Notably, Ferio Tego was among the most anticipated and buzzed-about brands throughout 2021, bringing back the Metropolitan Selection and Timeless Collection, followed by the ultra-premium Ferio Tego Elegancia and Ferio Tego Generoso cigars. The latter two went on to receive multiple year-end awards, including Cigar Dojo's No. 1 and No. 3 Cigars of the Year, respectively.
