Tatuaje Fausto was born in 2011, coming about as a spinoff of the company's fan-favorite T110 cigar (with the "T" in the codename standing for "Thermonuclear"). Indeed, Fausto is one of the strongest cigars ever crafted by Tatuaje owner, Pete Johnson, in partnership with the famed García family of tobacco artisans.
In bringing the blend to the masses, Johnson re-branded as Fausto, reviving the name and look from a retired Cuban brand of the same name. Fausto translates to mean Lucky, though the concept more directly draws from the tale of Dr. Faustus, a 16th century tragedy about a man who made a pact with the devil.
Bringing the sinister concept to life, Johnson incorporates fiery, high-priming tobaccos throughout the entirety of the blend. This includes all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers sourced from Nicaragua's Jalapa and Estelí regions, as well as an Ecuadorian Habano maduro wrapper. Fausto has become a staple in the humidors of high-octane smoking enthusiasts for years now, known for delivering gut-punching strength and ominous flavors of cracked black peppercorn, earth, campfire aromas, toasted rye, dark cocoa, leather, and bold espresso.
