Craft cigar fans rejoice: Espinosa has finally joined the exclusive TAA cigar series, introducing the rare and limited Espinosa Murcielago de Oro TAA 2023 cigar.
Let's back up a second—what's all this TAA mumbo jumbo? The TAA stands for the Tobacconists' Association of America, which is select group of the top tobacco retailers throughout the US. Each year, the retailers gather with a dozen or so of the most respected cigar manufacturers, with many of the manufacturers showcasing limited cigar sizes and/or blends, allowing the cigars to be sold exclusively through the TAA retailers.
New for 2023, Espinosa Premium Cigars has joined the list, showcasing a new, lighter-wrapped version of their beloved Murcielago cigar in a special 6" x 54 oval-pressed toro gordo size. Like the original, the cigars are wrapped in a Mexican San Andrés leaf, though the Murcielago de Oro (Spanish for Golden Bat) swaps the maduro grade of the original for a lighter claro variation of the leaf. This special wrapper is joined by a binder from Nicaragua’s Jalapa region and all-Nicaraguan filler.
What does the Espinosa Murcielago de Oro TAA 2023 cigar taste like?
The Espinosa Murcielago de Oro TAA 2023 is slightly more nuanced and fuller-bodied in flavor than its maduro sibling, pulling back in strength and sweetness and gravitating more towards notes of cabinet spice, cappuccino, cedar, and toasted nuts. Limited to only 1,500 boxes of 20 cigars, this is sure to be among the most sought-after releases for 2023.
