In 2016, E.P. Carrillo (EPC Cigar Co.) restructured their entire portfolio at the annual IPCPR trade show. This included new collections such as “The Classics,” “Elite,” and the “Dimension” series, where each blend within a given series showcases similar traits. Within the aforementioned Dimension series, Carrillo offers cigars such as the popular INCH, Interlude, and a new brand dubbed “The Original Rebel.”
As story goes, Alan Rubin of Alec Bradley Cigars colloquially referred to Ernesto Perez-Carrillo (owner and master blender of EPC Cigar Co.) as “the original rebel” and the name stuck. Taking advantage of the title, Ernesto ran with the name and crafted two blends: Maverick (using a natural wrapper) and Rebellious (wrapped in a dark Broadleaf maduro leaf).
Like all E.P. Carrillo cigars, The Original Rebel is crafted at Carrillo’s esteemed Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory in the Dominican Republic. For the natural-wrapped Original Rebel Maverick, Carrillo has selected an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over an all-Nicaraguan filler/binder recipe. And with the Original Rebel Rebellious, the blend features an oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and Nicaraguan fillers. These blends range from medium to full in body and showcase dependable flavor that can be enjoyed any time of day.
