As one of the most successful cigar series of the modern era, EPC Cigar Co. does not take the task of adding a new blend to the Perez-Carrillo collection lightly. Indeed, the series began in 2014 with the La Historia cigar, going on to earn Cigar Aficionado's No. 2 Cigar of the Year award. This was followed in 2018 with the Encore cigar, winning Cigar Aficionado's No. 1 Cigar of the Year. Twenty twenty's release was the Pledge cigar, also winning Cigar Aficionado's No. 1 Cigar of the Year award! Which brings us to the EPC Perez-Carrillo Allegiance cigar, the anticipated fourth cigar in the now-legendary collection from E.P. Carrillo.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Ernesto changed up the game plan for this go around. Instead of rolling the cigars at his Dominican factory alongside the other Perez-Carrillo cigars, he turned to another one of the world's most acclaimed factories: Tabacalera Oliva de Nicaragua (of Oliva Cigars fame). Carrillo worked closely with the Oliva family, combining their expertise for Nicaraguan tobacco with his specialty of Sumatran-wrapper. Finally, the cigars feature deep green bands to match the color of tobacco growing in the fields as closely as possible.
What does the EPC Perez-Carrillo Allegiance cigar taste like?
The E.P. Carrillo Allegiance cigar does its name justice, bringing together two legendary cigar families to showcase one exceptional smoking experience for the seasoned cigar enthusiast. The Allegiance cigar boasts a medium-full intensity, focusing on punchy Nicaraguan characteristics with warm, semi-sweet influence from the Sumatra wrapper. Expect flavors of pepper, baking spices, tangy sourdough bread, and toasted caramel.
