The El Trovador line from PDR Cigars first launched in 2016, being inspired by a trip to Cuba, where company owner, Abe Flores, first ran across the name.
After a half-decade on the market, El Trovador was refreshed, boasting a more ornate look that better tied into the cigar's name (which translates to The Troubadour—a French medieval lyric poet). Not only this, but each cigar in the line (El Trovador Maduro and El Trovador Rosado) received tobacco makeovers as well, moving from all-nicaraguan fillers to a 50/50 concoction of Nicaragua and the DR.
What does the PDR El Trovador Maduro cigar taste like?
Being the darker of the two, the PDR El Trovador Maduro cigar takes on a grittier flavor profile. The cigar includes Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, a double binder from Nicaragua, and a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. This amounts to a medium body, with standout complexities of earth, black pepper, chocolate malt, and touches of cinnamon.
