In the growing stable of brands under Christian Eiroa's CLE Cigar Company, the EIROA marca has come to represent the company's finest offerings. With the EIROA collection spanning a wide range of flavor profiles, it become apparent that something on the stronger side of the spectrum was needed and, in 2019, Christian debuted the EIROA Dark to fill the void.
As with all other EIROA cigars, the EIROA Dark boasts Honduran tobaccos throughout the blend, all of which have been harvested from the Eiroa family's world-renowned Eiroa Tobacco Farm. But where other EIROA cigars have focused on more delicate smoking experiences, the EIROA Dark cranks the dial "up to eleven." Indeed, all of the tobaccos featured in the Dark have been harvested from the highest-priming leaves of Corojo-seed plants. Receiving more direct sunlight than their lower-priming siblings, these leaves take on a thicker, more oily character. This translates to a longer fermentation process (two to three years) and a darker appearance (hence the name) in order to bring out the desired flavor characteristics from the brawny leaves.
Cigar-nerd speak aside, EIROA Dark is a masterful expression of strength and finesse. Not for the faint of heart, EIROA Dark bursts onto the palate, firing on all cylinders with a full strength and body. Flavors are heavy, yet show complexity through a long-lasting finish; this includes notes of charred oak, earth, clove, peppered steak, chocolate graham crackers, and raw vanilla bean.
