Drew Estate Undercrown Maduro Flying Pig is a legend among die-hard enthusiasts. This unique shape originally debuted on Drew Estate's Liga Privada cigars, later being ported over to the Undercrown Maduro as an exclusive for the Netherlands market in 2012. This foreign release strategy made the cigar highly desirable among collectors and Drew Estate fanatics, touting the size as being among the best sizes (if not the best size) in the Undercrown collection. The cigars slowly became more available and are now released on an annual basis, along with Flying Pig versions of DE's other blends.
The Flying Pig's unique size was inspired by a photograph of an 1895 cigar salesman’s size selection case, being tapered at both ends and quickly expanding to a 60 ring gauge at its thickest. This size offers an irresistible complexity and concentration of the smoke, including flavors of black pepper, gritty soil, dark cocoa, roasted nuts, and bitter-sweet espresso.
