Fans of classic muscle cars, biker culture, motorsports, and cigars will surely find common ground in CAO's Flathead series, which features beefed up cigar smoking experiences on par with the classic autos they were inspired by.
Since 2019, CAO has begun rolling out limited edition blends within the Flathead series every other year, beginning with the CAO V19 and extending to include the CAO V21 in 2021 and CAO V23 in 2023. With this, the most recent addition, the V23 draws inspiration from Ford's iconic GT40 MK1 car, being rolled to coincide with the 100th anniversary of France's legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Ford GT40 MK1 had one of the most successful runs in Le Mans history, winning consecutively from 1966 to 1969. As such, the V23 cigar takes cues from the GT40 throughout its packaging and presentation, including naming the box-pressed 6" x 60 size 'MK1 660.' The tobacco recipe itself includes a Honduran wrapper from the country's Jamastran region, a Nicaraguan Habano binder, and diverse fillers of Brazilian Mata Fina, Honduras (viso from Jamastran), and Nicaragua (viso from Jalapa and ligero from Estelí).
What does the CAO Flathead V23 cigar taste like?
The CAO Flathead V23 cigar is as beefy and fiery as the GT40 upon ignition! Weighing in with a box-pressed 6" x 60 gordo size, the V23 offers a clean draw and billowing smoke output. The cigar is fuller in body than its siblings, though it maintains an eye for finesse. This includes a medium-full body and lingering flavors of rich earth, toasted oak, sweet molasses, and sweet dried fruits that sink into the palate on each finish.
