Each year, a select number of tobacconist retailers gather in remote locations for an annual convention known as the Tobacconists' Association of America (TAA). These retailers are some of the largest in the country, priding themselves on maintaining a knowledgable staff and superior shopping experience for consumers.
In recent years, many of the industry's top manufacturers have participated in a TAA Exclusive Series, where the companies will craft new, limited edition smoking experiences, to be sold exclusively through TAA retailers. New for 2018, CAO has joined the list of 13 total retailers, crafting a TAA Exclusive Series cigar for the first time.
The cigar is CAO Estelí, named for the Nicaraguan influence of the blend, as well as the cigar's origin (rolled at the STG Estelí factory in Estelí, Nicaragua). With CAO Estelí, the cigars make use of a Jalapan-grown wrapper, Honduran binder, and a multi-national filler recipe of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Honduran tobaccos. This special blend is then rolled in a singular 6" x 54 toro grande size, with only 1,500 boxes of 10 cigars in existence. CAO Estelí is medium-plus in body, showing fiery characteristics of red and black pepper, fresh soil, hickory bark, charred steak, and cedar wood sweetness.
