Black Label Trading Company was launched by husband-and-wife duo James and Angela Brown in 2013. The company is the true embodiment of modern boutique cigars, offering an edgy look and smoking experiences to match. This stems from James Brown's own creativity, designing each unique cigar from scratch, including artwork and tobacco blend.
As the name intimates, Black Label Trading Company's (BLTC) cigars often take on dark, high contrast visuals, seemingly borrowing from metal culture with an emphasis on skulls and other skeletal imagery. This counterculture vibe plays into the smoking profiles as well, which are heavy on maduro tobaccos, typically registering in the medium-full to full-bodied range.
The Browns are also partners in a boutique-style factory—Fabrica Oveja Negra—in Estelí, Nicaragua. This allows BLTC a higher level of control than many other brands in the space, offering a high level of craftsmanship and fine-tuned flavor output for the entirety of their growing stable of premium cigars. Popular cigar choices include the BLTC Last Rites, Lawless, and Deliverance Porcelain, among others.
