Balmoral Cigars is the premium cigar line for Royal Agio Cigars. Royal Agio, one of the world's largest cigar makers (primarily focused on machine-made cigars in the European market), decided to create a cigar brand for the premium cigar enthusiast. In 2014, Balmoral Cigars was founded by CEO Boris Wintermans. Balmoral's cigars are produced in Royal Agio's factory in the Dominican Republic.
For a company owned by Royal "Age-I-o" (see what we did there?), it's not surprising that Balmoral focuses on aged tobacco! Forgive us for the bad pun but the word Añejo translates to "aged" or "mature" in English. Balmoral caters their tobacco selection towards premium, aged leaves—focusing on complexity and smoothness.
The Balmoral Añejo XO Oscuro is a followup to the Añejo XO and was released at the same time as the Añejo XO Connecticut. The Balmoral Añejo XO Oscuro boasts a stalk-cut Mexican San Andrés wrapper that covers a Dominican binder and filler tobaccos from the Dominican, Brazil, and Nicaragua. The Añejo XO Oscuro has an earthy flavor at its core, accompanied by espresso and baker's cocoa; the profile brings a smooth, medium body and medium strength output.
