With a healthy suite of cigars that focus on the strange, twisted, and deranged, Asylum’s Medulla Oblongata fits seamlessly into the picture, centering around the human brain…
In biological terms, the medulla oblongata is the lowest part of the brainstem, operating the control centers of the heart and lungs. But for this atypical cigar project, Asylum manifests the concept as the brain itself—offering two distinct smoking experiences that mimic the left and right hemispheres of the brain.
In other words, each box of Asylum 13 Medulla Oblongata contain both a box-pressed and non-box-pressed version of the same cigar! Each box is split down the center, with the left side containing the Medulla (round) cigars, and the right side offering the Oblongata (box-pressed) version. The cigar’s blend has been hand-crafted by the talented artisans of the Eiroa family (of CLE Cigars fame), using a Honduran puro blend that is constructed entirely from the Eiroa family’s own Authentic Corojo tobacco.
This is a classic, medium-bodied blend that performs similarly to old-school Cuban cigars (only with a bigger, amped-up flavor profile). Expect bright and energetic nuances of pepper zest, tang, cedar, orange cream, and sourdough bread. The only question is, are you left or right-brained???
