The infamous 601 Blue Label Maduro was among the original collection of 601 cigars from the now-defunct EO Brands. Over the years, the cigars have gone through many changes, including three companies (EO Brands, Rocky Patel, and Espinosa Premium Cigars) and three different factories (My Father, La Zona, and San Lotano). This isn't to say the cigars are inconsistent, but more so that everyone wants a piece of the legendary 601 name!
Since 2012, 601 has been back in the hands of its original creator, Erik Espinosa. Erik was quick to return the brand to its original glory, rolling the cigars with strict attention to detail at his boutique factory (La Zona) in Estelí, Nicaragua. As the brand has grown, demand began to outpace the small factory's abilities, and 601 Blue Label Maduro was eventually moved to the San Lotano factory, managed by the supreme talents of A.J Fernández. Not only are the cigars rolled at A.J.'s factory, but the blend has been upgraded to make use of his highly aged inventory of premium tobaccos.
601 Blue Label Maduro is medium to full in body, showcasing a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over 100% Nicaraguan binder/fillers. This blend is a staple among maduro fanatics, offering easily enjoyable flavors of chocolate, toasted bread, freshly roasted coffee beans, black pepper, charred oak, and black berry jam sweetness.
