Another year gone – another great year for the Premium Cigar Industry! Once again numerous Cigar Media companies have released their choices for the 2021 Cigars of the Year. Some favorites include the Drew Estate Undercrown 10 (No. 1 The Consensus, No. 2 Cigar Dojo, No. 11 Cigar Snob, N0. 15 Cigar-Coop) – all these making it one of the most common cigars amongst the Cigar of the Year rankings! New lines such as the CLE Signature THT-EKE 03/17 earned the No. 5 Spot on Cigar Dojo and Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua taking the No. 2, No. 3, No. 9, and No. 12 spots on Cigar Aficionado, Cigar Snob, the Consensus, and Cigar-coop, respectively.
Q: What is the 2021 Cigar of Year?
A: In 2021 Cigar Aficionado awarded the Cigar of the Year to Padron 1964 Anniversary Series Torpedo Natural, the Drew Estate Undercrown 10 earned the No. 1 spot from the consensus ranking, while Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Epicure Maduro earned the No. 1 ranking at Cigar Journal.
Q: There are too many rankings, what is the TRUE Top Cigar of the Year?
A: There is no one true Cigar of the Year, each premium cigar publication, expert, enthusiast, and every day smoker will most likely have a different favorite from that year. But we take the word of some of these experts and publications and showcase what they believe to be the Top 10, 25, or 30.
Q: How does a cigar rank in the Top Cigars of the Years in different years?
A: This is a more common occurrence than you may think. While Cigar Dojo only considers the top new releases from those respective years, others, like Cigar-Coop, rank what they deem to be the best from what they smoked that year. An example of this is the Southern Draw Rose of Sharon Desert Rose – which earned the No. 2 Spot of Cigar Dojo in 2019, No. 12 ranking in the consensus in 2020, and this year was ranked No. 18 by Cigar-Coop.
