The 2012 by Oscar series was the first brand released by Honduran manufacturer Oscar Valladares Tobacco & Co., originally debuting in 2012 to coincide with the foretold "end of the world" on Dec. 21, 2012. Lucky for the cigar hobbyist, the infamous Mayan calendar appeared to have somewhat of a miscalculation, allowing for more time to enjoy the finer things before, well, the world meets its eventual demise...
In the years following Oscar Valladares' first release, the company (and associated factory in Honduras) have seen tremendous growth, releasing hits such as LEAF by Oscar, Island Jim #Two, and The Oscar Habano. And to commemorate a successful five years since launching in 2012, Oscar Valladares made the decision to reintroduce the elaborate 2012 by Oscar in three updated formats: Connecticut, Corojo, and Maduro.
The 2012 by Oscar Connecticut showcases a bright yellow design, contrasted by Mayan-inspired artwork. The blend features fillers of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos, a Honduran binder, and a Connecticut Shade wrapper. This makes for the mildest blend of the bunch, offering a soft and creamy smoking experience of barnyard hay, salted butter, white pepper, and green tea. In addition, 2012 by Oscar marks the first box-pressed cigars from Oscar Valladares Tobacco & Co. to date, allowing for the blend of tobaccos to better marry and create a more synergistic smoking experience.
